VOTE YES FOR HOME RULE

Who should make the decisions by which Franklin Park is funded and governed?

Who should we trust to provide the leadership and means to protect and improve our way of life in Franklin Park? Springfield or Franklin Park?

Currently as a non-home rule community, Franklin Park is limited by Springfield on what means we can use to raise the necessary funds needed to support village services like making our streets safe for First Responders.

As a home rule community Franklin Park can ease the dependence on property taxes as the main source of revenue to fund village services.

As a home rule community Franklin Park can collect revenue from non-residents (like off-site airport parking lot users) that use our village streets and resources. Also some of the revenue which now goes to the county can remain in Franklin Park for improvements that benefit local residents.

Two resolutions have been passed that take effect if Village residents approve Home Rule for Franklin Park.

The first resolution, passed at the September 21, 2015 Village Board meeting, resolution no. 1516-R-09, protects Franklin Park residents from unlimited property tax increases.

The second resolution, passed at the January 19, 2016 Village Board meeting,

resolution no. 1516-R-23, provides for a residential property tax rebate program.

100% of all funds generated from Home Rule after the property tax rebate to you will be used for street and local safety improvements.
